NEWARK — Three young children were hit by a car and hospitalized Thursday morning, but they are expected to recover from their injuries, authorities say.

The three children, ages 4 to 6, were struck by a Jaguar at approximately 8:20 a.m., said Sgt. Ronald Glover of the Newark police.

The Jaguar driver came to a stop after the accident at the intersection of Sussex and 4th avenues, he added.

The police arrived at the accident scene and investigated. EMS personnel assessed the children and the children were transported to University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Glover added.

The driver remained at the scene, was interviewed by police – and no motor vehicle summonses were issued, police said.
